Description

Target group

The workshop program is intended for trainee patent attorneys preparing for the EQE D paper and in particular for those having participated to the pre-exam.

The workshop is exclusively for epi students. The epi offers the possibility to become an epi student to be able to participate in the workshops, detailed information how to become an epi student can be found here

This workshop will deal with the different aspects on how to answer an EQE D paper.
Those aspects relate to the structure of the D paper, the importance of well reading the questions, so as to recognize in the question the pointers towards the answer, and how to structure and draft the answer. What to do, and more particularly what not to do, when answering a D paper will also be dealt with. As the DII paper is generally considered as the more difficult part of the exam and a larger part of the marks is attributed to the DII part, the course will focus more on that DII part.

Relating to the part I of the legal questions, the participants will be trained on how to collect the information presented in the question, bring the collected information in the legal framework, so as to draft the answer.

Relating to the part II of the legal questions, the participants will be trained in structuring the information presented in the question, i.e. to correlate the different technical and legal features presented in the question with the time at which they occurred. They will further be trained in linking the different technical and legal features, taking into account the time at which they occurred, in order to derive therefrom the legal consequences and draft the answer.

The workshop format will be a mix of “class teaching” and practical exercises, all in an interactive session. EQE papers D will be used. The workshop will be given in English, questions can also be asked in German or French.

After the workshop there will be the possibility of a follow-up tutorial (included in the workshop fee). Within the framework of the follow-up tutorial, participants can take the remaining DI questions at home, an epi tutor will correct them and feedback will be given.
