Interested epi members are invited to join an information session about the limited-scope pilot phase of a mentoring program for epi students. There will be a chance to learn about the origins, the goals and the expected scope of the program, as well as to ask questions.

The goal of the pilot is to investigate whether a mentoring program for epi students should be launched. Mentoring will aim to help epi students with their first steps in the European Patent Attorney Profession. Main scope of the mentoring program will be focusing on support with exam preparation, but general topics related to the profession can be touched upon as well upon the Mentee’s initiative.

The pilot program is set to launch around September 2025, to last 6-7 months (until after the EQE 2026) and to include a maximum of 15 mentor-mentee pairs.

Proposed frequency of mentoring sessions is once a month, but the exact frequency can be up to the mentor & mentee’s preference.
Matching of mentors and mentees will be done manually (at least for the pilot phase) based on the mentoring forms filled by the mentors and mentees. The initial matching will be anonymized. Once a mentor-mentee pair is matched, their identities be disclosed to each other.
A kick-off mentoring meeting will be offered to explain the program and set the expectations.
Session scheduling is to be driven by the mentee.
At the end of the mentoring period, all participants will be sent a survey to gauge their impressions of the program. The survey will be used to decide whether a mentoring program for epi Students should be launched.

In order to attend the on-line course participants need a computer with an internet browser and a high-speed broadband internet connection. For the webinar, epi uses Zoom. Security settings on local Firewalls need to be checked. In order to make full use of the webinar session, we recommend to use headsets.
