Description

Global patent monetization of Chinese enterprises

  • Increasing global patent monetization activities
  • Rising licensing projects and strong demand for patent transactions
  • Examples from the solar energy and automotive sectors

Chinese enterprises are becoming increasingly active in the global patent monetization landscape. As their products, technologies and market presence expand internationally, more Chinese companies are using patents not only for protection, but also as strategic assets for licensing, transactions, portfolio building and cross-border business cooperation.

This session will provide a China-focused view on recent developments in global patent monetization. Rebecca Yan will discuss the rise of licensing projects, patent transactions and SEP-related activities involving Chinese companies, as well as the practical drivers behind this trend. The session will also highlight selected examples from the solar energy and automotive sectors, where market expansion, patent portfolio gaps and cross-border licensing opportunities are becoming increasingly visible.

Participants will gain a better understanding of how Chinese companies approach global patent monetization, what types of opportunities may arise for European companies and patent professionals, and how patent analysis, evidence of use, portfolio evaluation and commercial negotiation play a role in such projects.
