Description

This is the first part of a webinar series on US law. It will discuss key procedural features of the US and highlight differences between the practice before the USPTO and the EPO. The webinar will cover practicalities such as when to first file in the US, the ongoing obligation to file information disclosure statements, as well as the need for inventor signatures. The different types of office actions, including advisory actions and the use of terminal disclaimers will also be outlined.

Our presenter, Amy J. Martin, is an accomplished Intellectual Property Paralegal with almost 30 years of experience supporting global patent and trademark portfolios across leading technology and engineering organisations.  Known for her results-driven leadership, exceptional communication skills, and deep expertise in IP operations, she has built a reputation for improving IP processes, enhancing data accuracy, and strengthening collaboration between legal teams, business units, and outside counsel. Amy recently moved from the US to the UK and is currently employed at Equinox IPMS as Product Quality Specialist.

Later webinars in the series will cover substantive matters of US law such as strategies for responding to final office actions, obviousness and exclusions to patentability.
