Professional Conduct Committee (PCC)
Size:
For this Committee the maximum number of members which may be elected from each constituency is one full member and one substitute member. None of these members shall be a member of any disciplinary body nor of the epi Board.
Task of the Committee:
The Professional Conduct Committee (PCC) deals with matters relating to the professional conduct of epi members. The key mission of PCC is to support the Institute in promoting compliance by its members with the Rules of Professional Conduct, inter alia through the formulation of recommendations adopted by the epi Council and the provision of opinions on conduct‑related enquiries from individual epi members. Selected members of PCC further assist the epi President in preparing comments for disciplinary proceedings.
What is expected from a member of this committee?
PCC normally meets as a whole committee twice per year, once in person, once online. The in-person meetings are held in Munich, at epi premises, in September. For one-day meetings, members are expected to arrive the day before in time for dinner and return in the evening, at the end of the meeting. Alternatively, meetings are organised over two days, starting in the morning or mid-day of the first day and finishing in the afternoon of the second day, in time for catching evening flights.
Between its annual in-person meeting and intermediate online meeting, the members are expected to perform the various tasks in one or more chambers or working groups (WGs): providing opinions to epi members, database of opinions, amendments of the Code of Conduct, training activities, use of AI, communication, third members.
The working language is English, but French and German are also used by the WG dealing with the revision of the Code of Conduct and sometimes by chambers.
Members are expected to acquire or preferably have knowledge of professional conduct or disciplinary matters in the Institute, in particular the Regulation on Discipline and the Code of Conduct, including the application and interpretation thereof. Experience at national level is valuable.
